I am working with crystal reports version 8, and I have a report based on a table with multiple revisions of each record. I would like to only display the most current record. I currently have the records grouped by SSN, and I tried using record selection so that table.revision=maximum(table.revision) and it refers to maximum() and says "this function cannot be used because it must be evaluated later." I have tried whileprintingrecords and whilereadingrecords and neither was successful. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
Dave

Assuming you need to show only the last revision within
a group of records belonging to a single SSN, you can simply sort by revision so the last one is the last row in the group. Place all the fields you need in the Group Footer and suppress the detail band.

If you need to do more than just display the info
(e.g., you need to comute totals), you can use
Running Totals that evaluate once per group
(and reverse the sort order).
