I have a report where I need to include the first two records that appear in the detail section, in the group header. I know that the first record of the detail section will be shown if placed in the group header, however I am looking for an easy way to have this record and the very next one displayed in the group header.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on how this can be done.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

What you have described is impossible. Please tell us what you are trying to achieve, there might be a work around.

Another possibility is to us a subreport in the header to show first two records.

If you don't suppress or hide the details section, you could do this by using the next() function on each field. However, if you suppress or hide, the results will not be correct. In that case you probably should take the subreport approach. In the sub you would suppress all but the first two records per group based on a running total, and then place the sub in the group header, linking the sub on the group field.

The subreport method worked. Thanks for the helpful responses!
