I have a live server and I want to mirror the root drive (c1t0d0) to drive 2 (c1t2d0). I have maybe one free slice. I've read that I can take from swap to use for the replicas?

1) How is that done?

2) If I have no free partitions, how can I use swap for both replicas?

3) Can this be done while the system is live and running?

Thank you

Do you know how I could test failover? I was thinking of downing the root drive but I hate pulling drives (even if hot swappable). Is there a commmand to down a drive? Do you know other ways to test failover?

Thanks

If it's a scsi drive you can do a cfgadm -f -s unconfigure <drive> to down the drive.

Do a cfgadm -al to see the drive path.

If it's a fiber drive you will have to do a luxadm to down it.

I was testing the removal of the boot disk with the cfgadm command and got the following error. I installed patches 110912-05 and 117702-01 prior to doing this as they were related.

Command I entered: cfgadm -c unconfigure c0::dsk/c0t0d0

Error: cfgadm: hardware specific failure: failed to unconfigure SCSI device: I/O error
