HI all,

I just install windows 7 on a 50gb partition, this was a standard install, when it finished i only had 3gb free.
i did no install no office nothing like that. why can the install took some many space?

Was it an upgrade install or a clean install, where under certain circumstances and/or options selected you have retained all the old operating system's files?

Do you have a folder called Windows.old in the root of your C: drive?

This should apply to Windows 7, so if you have the particular folder, make sure there is nothing in the user folders that you might want, and then use Disk Cleanup to get rid of it and free up GB's of space.

i will check it but this is a brand new install.

Something strange is going on there... on my system I have a 37GB partition that after the install still has 15GB free disk space (and after installing some software too)...

right click the drive icon and then properties, look there for the Cleanup routine to scrap the temp files...

alternatively, DL CCleaner and run it and have it clean out lots of junk that may have accumulated during the install of the OS and updates...

yes, my friend did a reinstall with the same dvd and it only used 13gb.
im thinking to reinstall all back again.

No sign of that Windows.old folder?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.
