I have place a drive in a known good DS4300, but in the latest Storage Manage, drive come up with red "X" and when you look at the properties, you get:
Status: Failed (Uncertified)

This drive is a ST3400832NS (400GB SATA) with Firmware 5.23
All other (good) are ST3400832NS 39M4575 39M0178 IBM with Firmare 5.23

Any assistance would be great.

If you bought the drive from other vender other than IBM certified vender, the drive lacks IBM signature code on it. Thats when you see "uncertified" message.
Replace the drive with an IBM labeled one. You'll be fine.
