Disk Space is Full 1

Hi Everyone,

Suddenly there is less than one gig of space remaining on a 50Gigs capacity hard drive on one of our user's laptop. I have checked add/remove programs, but nothing in there taking such a chunk space. I checked the Documents and Settings and found out that this folder is 15Gigs, and one of the folders inside is 7Gigs .I suspect the D&S is the culprit, but just wondering what else could be consuming the remaining space. I have deleted cookies, did a disk cleanup, checked for spyware and did a virus check. I checked the offline folder, and it is enabled.

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Look for the biggest files in the hard drive and find out which programs are using them.

Empty the trash if you haven't already.

Click Start then Search, select "All files and folders" then select "What size is it?" and select large (more than 1mb.) In the search criteria just search for *.* and that should give you every file on your PC bigger than one megabyte.

You may also want to check the drive for file system errors. Open a command prompt and type chkdsk /r. Select yes to schedule the disk check the next time the system starts and restart the computer.

Hi All,

Thank you for the valuable suggestions. Arizonageek, those were right on the money. I was able to get all the large files listed,and deleted. They were actually all picture files hidding somewhere that the user had forgotten about.
