disk read error

Hi all
i have got a new system and when i started it up it said disk read error pls press ctrl+alt+del to restart .. but again the same message is appearing again and again
what to do
i trie to put windows 2000 prof. cd and format but still say the same message DISK READ ERROR..
PLS SOMEBODY HELP

Is there anything in the floppy disk unit ?

If you bought it new from a store, I would suggest bringing it back.

nope nothing in floppy disk.. i am trying to restore with the cds they gave ..
its a packard bell pc. thanks for youe help
any other idea?

why do i have the feeling its because your system got like an ata 66/100/133 controlleur, if then it need drivers so it can read the hard drive.

please specify the brand name / model of your mobo,
