On my Dell Latitude D520, I am getting "Disk Read Error. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot". I do that and it just brings me right back to the same place, no further. It worked at 5 pm last night, I didn't turn it on again until 8 this morning, and got the error. Am I hosed? It is about 6 months old, brand new out of the box.

Have Dell fix the problem under warranty.

If you send it back to Dell, then probably yes...

Are you in a position to remove the hard disk and try attaching it to a working machine as a secondary/slave drive? If yes, the this would give you the opportunity to try reading from the disk. As it boots up, remember to cancel any scan that Windows XP might want to try and carry out on the deffective drive. This will give to maximum opportunities to recover data should you wish to go down this route...

insert your Dell Diagnostic disc & see if that gives any help

Be warned that disassembling the laptop to remove the HD may void the warranty.
