In an attempt to work around Office 2010 woes, I have created a VM environment, loaded Vista business and Office 2003.

However, MS Access 2003 keeps losing the tables?

It works fine , then for no apparent reason all the linked tables vanish, the program either crashes or I get a disk/network error.

There is nothing wrong with the network and all mapped drives seem to run fine?

any idea why this is happening, I've googled, but the MS knowledge base goes on about getting the latest Jet4 DLL , however, it then states that Vista has the latest Jet DLL so I'm stumped?

all help appreciated.

Cheers,

I have seen that behavior before when a new form or report is imported into an Access DB and the code is not compiled.

Access reports a network error.

To solve, you open up a code window on a form or report, then compile the code and finally do a save.
Now, do a compact and repair.

I would suggest trying the above suggestion to see if it helps with your problem.

Nope, made no difference :-(

I'm now setting up a VM machine as XP Pro, let's just hope the office OEM 2003 activates!

I'm well behind on an urgent project, can't even change a simple button on a form without it crashing.

MS seems to have tied my hands, I have OEM XP Pro & MSO2003 but no machine other than VM to put it on and MSO2010 that doesn't work!

I have full retail of Vista business only that doesn't seem to work either.

Begining to wish the Boss never bought me this new PC, it's been nothing but trouble, not to mention having cost me and the company two weeks worth of hasle and headache and still counting!

Well after having to ring the activation automated hotline.

I've now got a VM environment of XP Pro & MSO2003, and everything is running fine.

Now I can look at how to rewrite the DB without CDO 1.2.1 as well as making it run under office 2010 with the developer SDK runtime so we can stop buying Office Pro and paying through the nose so users can run access applications!!

So a heads up to anyone else out their with an access application under MSO2003 using CDO 1.2.1

You must keep a devel environment with XP & MSO2003 while rewriting and migrating to the newer versions of MS Office.

If like me you only have the one PC as the boss won't pay for any test environment or devel test bed machines, then VM Ware is the only way to acheive this!

Good luck and happy migration!
