When trying to install a 8GB Quantum Fireball CX in a working P133 PC with Win98, the BIOS finds the right HD, but then after Updating ESCD, posts a Disk I/O error. I have tried this same HD in 2 other PCs, and it has worked just fine. Is the BIOS just too old to recognize this HD or have I screwed somehow?

Jumpers ok? Does it appear in POST screen at the right size?
Have you tried booting with it on its own (just to see if you still get i/o error)? Is the cable ok (ie, no damaged slave connector)? Is the bios enabled for 2 IDE devices on each channel?

Tried different cables, and tried booting it alone with the same result. Jumpers are set right as it loads with no problem in another machine. It appears to be identified the same as in the other PC.
Thanks for the suggestions. Any more??
