Have a user running W98 and after the error, it tells her to press any key and it continues to boot without problem and her machine appears to operate fine. Just seems to be an annoyance.

If it hasn't been doing this all the time it could be an indication the the drive is about to die. I would recommend backing up any important data. Justin

Could she have possibly trashed or erased a file that it is looking for. Because before I got my new computer I had an old tandy computer and when I would load it I would get an error that said hit any key to continue like yours does, and when I would it would always run fine then I found out that I had erased a file that it needed to load something. So maybe that helps you a little.
