It appears that the disk defragmenter in Win2000 is unable to be scheduled (MS Artical ID: Q231176) without interaction from the user. You can start it up in the 'task scheduler' but you have to manually select drives and start the defragmentation process. My question: is anyone aware of a work around for this, so it can be scheduled to run, at say, 2:00 AM, without user intervention. I know we can purchase DiskKeeper to accomplish this, but... Thanks.

I have heard from many pros to not even bother
with MS defragmenter. It will probaly be fixed
when they get to Whistler or NET Server or later.
Why schedule something that won't work anyway?

The only way to schedule the defrag is to buy the full version from Executive software.
