We just had a power failure and one of the PCs [ a Seanix with Win 98] stops the bootup process at the following "Verifying DMI pool data - Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I have assumed 'system disk' does not mean the WIN 98 CD but means a boot floppy although now that I have said this I will try the WIN 98 CD.

I am assuming this requires a boot floppy made from this machine and I do not have one. I tried one from another machine and I got a blank screen with a cursor at the top left corner. I have a relatively identical machine right next to it from which I could make another boot floppy [I think I know how] but don't know if this would work or not.

I would appreciate any ideas.

Thank you

Hi

Sounds like your boot records are screwed up. Try installing Windows over itself and see if that helps. I don't know of any other way of restoring the boot records.

Hope this helps

Thanks tsstechie - I didn't get a chance to try it before the power went off again and this time the computer booted all the way and we're happy. I am busy making boot floppys ....
