Hey

It's been a while since IE startedto have a discussion tab, does anyone have any idea what it is good for? how does it work?

How can I activate that for my website? it asks for discussion server, are there any discussion server products?

Maybe I missed this when it first was brought up... but what are you talking about? What version of IE are you seeing this in? Maybe you have some 3rd party toolbar or something installed. Or as I said... maybe I've just never noticed it.

Cheers,
Jeff

on IE version 6 there is a yellow piece of paper icon on the toolbar for discussions.

i have not used it but it is there and if you click it on some websites it works(?).

Xagate... yup - I know what you are talking about. I am using IE5.5 at the moment (I only use IE6 for testing as needed) and don't really use IE to "surf" so haven't come across it before. I recall seeing it, but when you are testing something you don't go "fiddling" around the browser.

Oh the joys of web development... no time (or desire) to use the web after work... and no opportunity to just "fiddle with things" at work.

Knowing it's proper name (and that URL you posted) is really everything you need.

Thanks for taking the time to post it.

Jeff

BabyJeffy,

I don't "surf" with IE either. The only reason why I know that it is there is because it caused serious confilicts with a custom intranet program when enabled... probably just poor programming (wasn't my work, just my work to find the fix).

Unless I was providing this within an intranet - where I'd have some control over which browser people used and which toolbars they enabled - I'd steer clear of this feature. Just use a regular link to a regular discussion forum or chat room, implemented with standard web technologies.
