Disconnection From Remore Laptop

I have a user who accesses our network from his home computer via a cable modem. Once connected to our system, he can access information on his laptop in his office.

PROBLEM. Lately, after the home computer is idle for a period of time (not always the same length), he loses the connection to his laptop here at work, but does lose the connection with our network. I could understand if he was losing total connectivity to the networ, but he's only losing it to his laptop. Any suggestions as to the cause?

We are running NT4 and Exchange 5.5.

It sounds to me like he has a setting on the laptop for it to go to sleep after a certain period of inactivity. Check the bios for a "sleep" time-out.
