Hi,
I am in the uk and the software here does not mention disconnect supervision. What is it and where is it in programming? Is it also in the software of startalks or just swithces?
Gary
Gary,
Disconnect supervision is a circuit on the CO end of the KSU which looks for a momentary disconnect on one leg of a CO line. The timing of this 'wink' is set by the CO. Recognising that timeing is set at the KSU. This is called the OSI or Open Switch Interval. On N* the values can be set for 60 100 260 460 or 600ms. In the 'old days' the polarity on the line would reverse.
When the N* gets an OSI it will disconnect from that CO line. It is particularly usefull when a call on hold hangs up. The KSU will sense this and also hang up freeing the lilne.
Disconnect supervision might not be applicabe in the UK Norstar because in the UK when a call comes in the person ringing in holds the line open,ie when you answer a call in your house and you want to talk in another room you can put the handset back on the receiver go to another phone pick it up and carry on talking, as long as the calling party doesn't hang up the line is open.
