I have a BCM 50 with the onboard analogue trunks enabled via keycode. This is working fine however if I call ends up in voicemail when the caller then hangs up the BCM 50 keeps the line busy for abotu 2 minutes.

Am I correct in saying that Loop Guarded is what I need to set the analogue trunk mode to?

The line is connected to NTL:Telewest business in the UK. I've just spoken to them and they confirmed the Exchange serving this area is a Nortel DMS 100. He had heard of this problem but asked me do I need the disconnect timer increasing or decreasing. I wasn't sure so he promised to pass this to the swicth engineers for investigation tomorrow.

Does anyone know the correct BCM settings and even better the DMS100 settign needed?

Dis conn Clear time is 500 ms in the UK for BCM loopguarded

Thansk for that so I need to get NTL:Telewest Business to set the line to 500 ms or more then I assume?

Did you try the simple first? and that is to turn Disconnect Supervision to ON under each line setting? The Telco needs to do the same, once both are verified ON and then still have issues then play with each of the DISCON timers and make test calls until you have no issue.

In the Uk profile you don't get to turn disconnect supervision on as such on the BCM you set the trunk profile to one of:-

Earth Calling
Loop Garded
Loop Ungarded

Loop garded is the version with disconnect supervision on and the trunk profiles are set accordingly.

The telco have today confirmed that they have disconnect supervision on as standard with a time of 50 ms. The suggestion is this shoudl be 800 ms... so they are going to change it for me.

800 ms in the UK is for Loop UNguarded
This will work as long as you dont use voicemail

500ms is for loop guarded. to be used with voicemail.
NTL need to set thier lines to 500ms and you need to set the bcm to loopguarded to match the line setting

If the lines are 800ms then the voicemail will hold the line for about 60 seconds before releasing depending on the lenght of your recorded message.
