Is there a way to get disconnect supervision on a loop start trunk? The problem that I'm having is when the far end hangs up my trunks will hold the line open. I have an Option 11 with the Universal Trunk card.

Why don't you print the Route Data Block LD 21 for this route. Look for the prompt that says CNTL for FEDC you can try changing this to FEC According to the book you can't set NEDC for anything other than ETH or ORG, I would leave this set to ETH.

I've tried that no luck, but thanks. I was told that NORTEL will not take supervision on loop start trunks only on Ground start. The NORSTAR will but not the PBX's. Is this true or does someone else have an answer. One of Bell Souths techs said that. I know you get the prombt when you build the trunks but if I say yes to supervision and someone calls the trunk only releases when I hang up. It works fine on a T1 programmed as loop start just not with the NT8D14. thanks for the help.

CHECK AND SEE IF THE TRUNKS ARE COMING THROUGH A SLC, IF THEY ARE THERE IS NO SUPERVISION PASSED THROUGH THE CHANNELS FROM THE OFFICE.
ON A LOOP START LINE DISCONNECT SUPERVISION IS NOTHING MORE THAN A MOMENTARY LINE OPENING ON ONE SIDE OF THE LINE.
T1 AND SLC DON'T PASS THIS ALONG

Is there a reason that you can't convert the lines to ground start? We might be able to come up with a solution if we knew what the lines were used for.

We are looking to use AT&T for some local services and their Tech tells me that they can not do Ground Start. These are just copper trunks going to a NT8D14 trunk card. I'm not putting in enough lines to justify a T1 circuit.
Thanks for the help

Based on your information, I think that the AT&T Tech hasn't provided you with the correct answer. You need to find someone at either AT&T or whoever their local provider is that can tell you why their trunks can't be ground start. Loop Start trunks in a PBX just don't work correctly, and you will continue to have problems if you can't get them changed.

Thanks, AT&T said that if I get 19 or more lines then they can do ground start. So I believe it has something to do with them and a T1. Agin thanks for all the help everyone

YOU HIT RIGHT ON THE HEAD, YOUR LINES ARE COMING IN T1 TO THE SWITCH BUT ATT HAS A SMALL DEVICE WHICH ONLY SUPPORTS LOOP START TRUNKS. IF YOU WOULD GO WITH 19 LINES OR MORE THEY WOULD PUT IN A CHANNEL BANK WHICH WOULD SUPPORT GRD START TRUNKS
