discards on port

What would cause discards on an ethernet port when utilization is very low and collisions are non-existant?

We are using Solarwinds and it is indicating discards, but there are no other errors or problems. These are indicated on Gig connections we have set up and I do not have a sniffer with a Gig card.

I use Nortel 450s, I see discards when there is another hub/switch downstream from this port, and the traffic is 'local' to that hub. Computer A and B are sending packets to each other on a hub, so the 450 sees the packets but discards them, as they have already reached the destination Device. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
