Recently bought Veritas Backup Exec and was looking for a good backup strategy plan. We have a backup server connected to about 25 pcs and needed help deciding how often I should run a full back up or incremental. If there is anyone that can share there backup plans please reply.

Thanks for any help.

the strategy that we use is a full backup every night starting at 11pm and letting it run through the night.

We use 4 friday tapes in a rotation.

Its not the best strategy but it works well enough

The best solution really depends on your backup window, the speed at which you are backing up, and how much data you are backing up. Ultimately the best would be a full backup nightly. Or you could run a full backup monthly, and a differential daily to backup anything that has changed since the last full. Have a 3 set rotation on the Full backup and a weekly rotation on the differentials
