Disaster Recovery....sorry :-(

I am attempting to find a quick way of restoring a server (not even a dc) to differing hardware. I have the MS white paper which makes it sound pretty easy.

I have installed 2k server on a Compaq ML530 server in the default winnt dir, I have not joined a domain, I have called it the same server name. I then tried restoring the system state..that worked, but on reboot it just freezes on the starting windows dos (black/white) screen.

Is there something simple I am missing here?
