I may have to restore my first Exchange Server in the site from backup...tonight. A recent attempt to rebuild the RAID 5 array that the data stores sit on failed and I have multiple ese76 event id 161 errors in my event log.

My question is this: I have a multi-server site. If I have to restore the first server in my site from backup do I need to be concerned about tasks specific to that server (public folder, OAB, schedule+ etc)?

Do I have to remove the server from the site before I restore? Or would I just bring the Exchange server back up in the site under the old name and the other servers in the site will just think they lost communication with the server temporarily?

Thanks for any help.

sorry, that should be ese97 Event ID 161 but I'm pretty sure my only option with this error is to restore the database.

Full text of error:
MSExchangeIS (2176) File system error 2 during IO on database E:\exchsrvr\MDBDATA\PRIV.EDB. Please restore the databases from a previous backup.

You need to reinstall the server using setup /r (For Recovery)
Then restore yor databases
Probhave to run a ISINTEG -patch

Thanks for the reply. I was more interested in how article Q152959 applies to a multiserver site. Or if it even does at all.

Since the Information Store is still up and running (in an inconsistent state) I decided to move the mailboxes to another exchange server and just decomission the server with the bad priv.edb. In that case I know to follow Q152959 to the letter.

Thanks again for the help.
