I have window 2000 server running sp3.

Arc Serve 2000 Advanced Version 7 build 1100

I have the Disaster Recovery Option.

All arcserve running sp4.

When I go to create disk for a specific machine, it first creates the diaster recover diskette, no problem.

Then it ask for the Win 2000 boot Disk. I stick Disk 1 in the machine and it gives me an error asking for diskette 1.

I created the disk using the same cd that I used to install 2000 on the server.

I have verified that the diskette is good and have went as far recreating the set with differant floppies and still I get the same error.

Any Suggestions ?

Thanks

Which version of the Win 2000 CD do you use ??
the version with sp3 included doesn't work with DRO yet

regards

I am using the original 2000 server cd that I used on the server. It is not intergated with SP3.

I have installed SP3 on the server.

HI,

Is it asking you to insert Win2k boot disk or a NT4 boot disk...

this usually happens if the backup is not good.

cheers

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

Having the same problem here. The only solution is to insert the original win2k server cd but then you get a normal win2k installation.
Then i found the solution;
We used Arcserve 2000 SP4 but the DR option is not Service Packed if you use the normal SP4 for Arcserve. There is a separate SP4 for the DR option. If you install this it works.

I installed the service pack 4 for DR but I am still having the same problem It looks like it is time to open a service call.

Hello Guys,

We can create Machine specific boot disks for remote machines having Win2k SP2, but for machines having Win2k SP3, it gives the option only for Generic Disks.(machine specfic option is greyed)

We have the same problem to date. Any updates would be really helpful.:)

Can you please check X:\ARCServe\DR\XYZ , where XYZ is the folder for DRmachine.
In this folder if you have arcbkup.w2k file. If not, then the reason for this file not be there is that you are missing a sucessfull Full backup for the server.. the *.w2k file indicates that this server is Win2000 so if it doesn't exist then it will ask for NT 4
Delete the XYZ directory and re-run a full backup ensuring that you have a Full Green box on the Source Screen in the backup Windows for the server and use a filter to exlude DHCP and TMP files.
If you are backing up a remote server ensure that you are backing up through the client agent and use name resolution instead of IP address.
Hope this helps

I have come to really hate ArcServe!!

It has been absolutely ridiculous!!!!

One thing I found to have ArcServe to create the files needed for Disaster recovery you have to select everything for backup. You CANNOT unselect a folder or file to be backed up NOT one. If you do ArcServe does not create the necessary files needed for disaster recovery and when you go to create the disaster recovery machine specific disk it will continually ask for the WINNT disk 1.

They want you to use filters to block unwanted files and folders and I have spent many of wasted hours trying to get my filters correct.

I understand that at one point ArcServe was great software but I personally have had it!!!

I needed a SQL agent for ArcServe 2000 and had to go through hell and back to get a downward lic number because they wanted to force me into upgrading to their new version.

It was only when I threatened to switch completely to another solution did they offer me a lic number.

The only good thing that came out of this is that I found out that Veritas has a special offer. If you are currently an ArcServe user you can switch to Veritas cheaper than upgrading your ArcServe.

I can't wait....
