Hi All,
I am having a difficulty. There is a problem that only happens on one machine at the moment, and it used to happen on my machine, but doesn't any more! Problem is that the Boss wants the problem fixed, though I can't honestly say I know how to, especially as it seems to be only happening on one machine...
Problem: We have a database with some Word documents, and Excel sheets in it. When users view the database, they double-click on one of the documents and a Read-only button and admin password field pops up. Users have been instructed (of course) to click Read-Only, and then the document/spreadsheet opens.
However... on this one machine, and mine a couple of months back, when you open a Word .doc, the Read-Only button pops up, and when you click it, Word is open, but no document is open! This doesn't happen with the Excel spreadsheets... only Word docs.
Anyway, other dbs are fine, it is just this one.
Once open, we have looked under the various Toolbar menus (Winodw, File, etc.) to try and find the missing doc, but to no avail.
An interesting fact is, though, that if you enter the admin password on the doc, rather than using the Read-Only button, the document opens fine!!!
The only thing I have done different to my machine is reinstall Notes (to a higher version... I had 5.0.6 before, and I am now using 5.0.10).
Any ideas?
