Disappearing E-mail with PDF Attachments

Hello: We are running GW 6.5.1 at the end user level. Some of our users have noticed that several of their email (some sent and some received items) have disappeared. One moment an email will be there, visible in the Mailbox, and the next it won't be there - not even in the Trash. It's completely gone from the database.

In trying to troubleshoot this issue, we have determined the commonality with all of these deleted email is that they each have a PDF attachment. Why this is happening, and how to fix it, we have no clue.

Could it be that the Client Option [Cleanup] is causing this?
When you say "One moment an email will be there, visible in the Mailbox, and the next it won't be there" is it actually disappearing in just minutes from the time it is received or sent?
