I have 3 separate sections of CAT5e solid core UTP. 7m, 20m and 35m. I have tested them and all lines are fine. When i plug each one into my netcomm 4port modem router, the ports light up respectively but i cannot ping it from any of the three computers connected to each cable. When i use .5m there seems to be no problem. Has anyone had a problem like this? Any suggestions?

the usual reason short wires work and longer one don't is not wiring to the specifcation (either untwisting the pairs at the ends or not using pairs at all)

How did you test them? Try changing to 10baseT half duplex in the NIC properties and see if that gives you any results (if you're using DHCP, remember to refresh/renew).
