I booted my machine this morning, and wanted to install a new software product. I placed the CD in the drive and waited (and waited) for the CD to start up. When nothing happened i went to the explorer to check the CD and found that neither my CD-RW or DVD drive showed up. I went to the device manager and both have a yellow exclamation next to them. I deleted them from the device manager and rebooted the machine. on re-starting win2k showed the new hardware wizard, and told me it was installing drivers for the CD-RW and the DVD, but when the boot completed the exclamations in the hardware manager were still there and no drives in explorer. My configuration is a PIII-800 and Gigabyte GA-6VX7 Plus M/B with 128Mb RAM.
IDE0 Master : Fujitsu 30GB HDD
IDE0 Slave : Seagate 20GB HDD
IDE1 Master : HP SureStore+ 9510
IDE1 Slave : Creative DVD-ROM
I have Win98SE installed, and when I boot into Win98SE, everything works OK, but in Win2K I cannot access the CD/RW or DVD drives. A couple of days ago eveything worked fine in Win2K too as I was recording CD's OK, but suddenly they stopped.
Any ideas???
