Disappearing Action Buttons!

I have another problem!

I have a selection of views in my database, and a folder. The views offer different representations of the records as intended, and each has a "New" button in the action bar. The folder, however, exists for a different purpose, to collect all the records relevant to the current user ("My reports" type function).

I have written an agent which collects these entries and deposits them in the folder, and created an action button in the action bar of the folder to Update, but it keeps disappearing! If I delete the action and re-create it, it appears, but then if I change to a view, and then back ot the folder, the "Update" button has gone, and the "New" button appears, which shouldn't even EXIST in the folder!

This is a bit of a useless explanation, sorry, if I don't make sense tell me and I'll elaborate!

Did you include any Hide/When formulas in the Action properties ?

And is the folder Shared, or Private ?

No, I already checked that, there's no formulas at all.

The problem seems to have gone away on its own now. I think an occasional restart of Notes and Designer (and possibly the PC) is most definitely a good idea!

And actually, its Shared, Private on First Use - is this something to do with it?

Definitely. A Shared/First Use folder has a special side-effect : when a given user opens it, a new copy of that folder is created specifically for that user, and that user is the only one to see it.
In other words, a Shared/First Use folder can exist in multiple instances that are entirely indepenant of one another.

Am I clear enough ?

Yeah, I understand the feature - its a "My Reports" type feature like I said, so I need it to be Private on first use, but surely the action buttons on the "Shared" version should be carried down to the "Private" version. Is this not the case?

The design is copied completely.
So if the button has no H/W formula or other hiding options clicked, it should show up.

This is a case where I'd want to see the design itself (sigh).

Well, as I said, the problem seems to have gone away. I often have problems with Notes and Designer, due to bad hardware and software on my PC, but I think its just my problem. Restarting Notes solves a lot of problems, and I think this was one of them.
