Dear forum users, just after I started syncing my new iPhone 3G with Outlook (calendars and contacts) I started to experiment strange behaviors with Outlook: when I quit Outlook and then restart it I am told that Outlook did not close correctly and needs to be recovered.

Then I've noticed that some mail messages are "hidden". I cannot see them in the Inbox folder but I can see them as a search result when I perform a search.

Can anyone tell me how to recover Outlook? I've already performed a SCANPST.

Thanks

Alessandro

Alessandro,
Try clearing filters. This is usually the cause of "hidden" messages.
View->Arrange By->Custom.
Check if there are filters. Should say "Off"
Clear filters if there are any.
This should solve that problem. As for the iPhone, it shouldn't do that as it reads the server directly rather than the Outlook client, unless you aren't using Exchange... are you?

I will concur about the missing messages thing. I don't use any mobile stuff but I had a case where I moved three messages of common topic to their own folder for easy reference. I go to look at them later that morning and the folder is empty, I had to ask one of the people i mailed the info to to reply back with my own friggin' message so i could have a copy. Embarrassing! Especially so when I'm trying to stay organized so I can lay my hands on info I need. It is beyond pathetic that we have to resort to "manually" filing messages in folders because Microsoft's search functionality is too primitive to find this stuff for us automatically. Google is so light years beyond them in this realm it isn't even funny, it's scary. Those messages that disappeared, I tried looking for them everywhere in Outlook. I had not deleted my deleted items in over a month so they should not have been gone forever. Dropped in the wrong folder, accidentally put in deleted items, something! Well, that could be but search couldn't find them.
