I may have posted this originally in the wrong forum.

I have now bought a new vid card which will fit into a PCI slot. I was told to first disble the original 1M card via the BIOS, but unfortunately the only options I have are to use the 1k OR 1M options. There is NO option to disable the video card. Is there any way to do this, as I cannot stand having this 1M card. Surely HP would not prevent u from updating stuff like a video card. This has really baffled/annoyed me, as the computer I have has always given me hassle ie constantly getting gpf's (or similar), AOL always crashing. Could i disable the 1M card via CP and System???

Thanx 2 ne1 who responds! Nick (Everton Rool OK!)

do you know what the make/model number of the motherboard is? if we had some more specific information on your machine it would be alot easier to try and help. without knowing exactly what you have it will just be speculation and hit or miss guesses...
usually there are a couple ways to disable the onboard video.
through the bios and or through jumper settings on the motherboard.
or in some rare cases the motherboard will acually disable the onboard vieo if it detects a pci video card (rare cases) knoweldge is power, spread the power
