Disabling styles

I have an annoying problem with importing or copying text from various sources to PM 6.5. In the process of importing the text, Pagemaker adds new styles to the publication. I don't ever want any new styles in my publication. How do I disable this function?

First of all it is better to use the place command in pagemaker instead of copying and pasting.

Secondly the styles that show up in your styles palette are imported from the original text program. Pagemaker does this automatically. You can not disable this function. I always ask my clients to make a plain text, without text formatting. This way I am able to make my layout much better.
