I'm looking for ideas on the best way to prevent un-authorized use of our PBX while our hotel is closed during the winter time. I don't want to change the COR's on all the stations and then change it back again in six months. I can't shut the system down completely, it needs to forward incoming calls to another location, and there a handful of stations that do need to keep working. One thought was to physically remove the line cards that aren't going to be used, but I don't know if that can be done with out removing associated programming. Any suggestions?

If you have the permissions, busy out the items/boards you wish to take out of service. You could unseat boards in the the switch but it creates alarms. This may or maynot be an issue for you, but it won't hurt anything as long as it is not system cards, processor, toneclock etc.

You could change the COR to make it outward restricted. Give a new COR to the few phones that you want to keep active.

I would busy out all the station cards, except for 1 and use it to program the sets you need to work.

Do you have ASA? Export the list of stations you want to disable, and change the port addresses to "X". Import the new list. Save the orginal list, and when you open again for the season, just import the orginal list to put all of your port addresses back.
