Dear All,

Hope all is well

A blackberry is not handy at the moment to test with but is it possible to disable incoming/outgoing PIN messages from the handheld itself? I believe it can be disable at the server and if so, can it be disable for a single user?
Handhelds can be 8700 - 8800 as well as the Pearl.

TIA

You have to use an IT Policy to disable sending of PIN messages from handhelds and move the user to that IT Policy. Once applied the option to create a PIN message will disappear for that handheld.

In older versions of BES you cannot block receiving PIN messages as by design a PIN message is a form of emergency communication, so there is no Policy to block receiving them.

In more recent versions of HH code you can use the device's Firewall to block PIN, SMS, MMS or BIS. However, if you want to enforce it, in more recent BES versions there is a FIREWALL section of the IT Policy where you can specify to block certain types of incoming messages that bypass your BES and can specify PIN (Corporate), PIN (Public), SMS, MMS & BIS.

The user will not be able to change the HH settings if the IT Policy is in place.

Cheers
