Was wondering if anyone knows how i can prevent my users from creating a Personal Address Book (PAB).
We are currently using outlook 2002 as a email client, and have a W2K domain.
Is there a way using GPO to disable this?
i have a outlook.adm , but i cannot see or find the policy that will disable this.
is there maybe a reg change i can make for this?

If you don't mind me asking ... WHY?
Is it really worth the effort to 'hack' your user PCs just for the, something that does no real harm?

Have a look at the shop @ !

Our users have created PAB`s all over the place, local drives, network shares, some of them even land up deleting them and expect us to recover them.
so we thought, disabling them would force them to use their outlook contacts instead

Ah, I understand your frustration, but, in those case, I have always been very very strict. There are rules to follow to assure good IT workings, if they don't, too bad.
User education solves more problems than fixes, and it save you alot of time and hassle to deal with it.
Don't forget that every little thing you solve by 'hacking' something, is something you must document and never forget in case of recovery.
Besides that, they will challenge you with new issues every now and then, which you probably would want to block again. In the end, all you would be doing is losing precious time for other, more importan tasks.
So, my advice is not technical but strictly human. Make them obey the rules, and make it VERY clear there is NO support whatsoever if they break the rules.
Get you Management to support you on this and you will have a much more relaxed job.
Send out a notification that all PAB's found on the servers will be deleted in a Months time, without further notice, and you will se the problem solve itself. There will be of course some grumblings about it, but you should ignore that. After all, you all work for a company, the company (and you) do not work for them!
