Disabling Next Available Tray Option On HP LJ 4000

I work for a law firm and they just purchased $20,000 worth of letterhead paper (page-1 letterhead and page-2 letterhead). Page-1 letterhead is kept on tray 2 and page-2 letterhead is kept on tray 3. Regular stock white paper is kept on tray 4. The problem is that if tray 4 runs out of paper, it will start pulling from the very expensive paper on tray 2 (all trays use the same size paper). I need a way to disable the "next available tray" option so that when a tray runs out, it stops the job altogether. I really don't know if this is even possible. I'm at my wits end here and would very much appreciate help. If this is too complicated, can you recommend a consultant to help out please.

Thx,
Calvin

This is a tricky one.

When the error "Tray x Empty" is triggered, you will get "Load the empty tray (x)" But If you do not load the specified tray, the printer will continue printing from the next available tray, and the message will continue to display.

I don't think you can alter the options using Jet Admin. :(

You should be able to go to the control panel on the printer and specify, let's say, "letterhead" or "bond" etc. as the papertype for that tray. Then theoretically, the printer will NEVER pull from that tray by itself unless the print job is requesting that papertype.

You do this manually on the physical printer, not through a windows setup of some kind.
