disabling macros when opening a file - Excel 2002

Hi,

I'd like to open a file with disabled macros, but I don't know how to. (I have tried increasing the security settings to medium but I am not asked whether I want to open the file without macros). How do I disable macros whilst opening the file (I've tried holding down shift whilst opening the file and I've tried looking for an open option for this and I've looked in Excel help).

Any ideas?

Yes - Its got subroutines and functions in and an auto_open function in...

With security set to medium, and opening the workbook in the usual way I always get asked about macros.

How are you opening the workbook exactly?

Are you saying that the auto_open function runs when you open the workbook?

The spread sheet has a digital certificate. On the security menu select "Trusted Sources" and remove the certificate that is associated with the sheet you want to open. Open the file holding down the shift key.

Yes the auto_open function does run...

I've never had this issue before either. This new environment I am working in has brought up lots of these types of issues...

I open the workbook by loading excel and dragging and dropping the file in. And also I've opened the file from the file open menu. I also tried seeing if there were any arguments you could pass into the workbook.open function to disable macros. I didn't find any.

I've tried using security settings medium and high and I've also disabled any digital signature allowances (there were two microsoft ones...)
