I just downloaded Eudora 6. I have never used it before but I am trying to see if there is something better than outlook express. When I receive emails in the top pane and I click on one it opens it up in the bottom window. I dont want this to happen. I dont want to open any porn or virus emails automatically. How can this pane be closed or disabled?

If you have the JUNK mail filter activated, then you shouldn't see any of these in your in box anyways; they would automatically end up in the JUNK mail folder which you can clear out wholesale (ctrl-A, DEL). The JUNK filter seems to be pretty good about sorting out real and junk mail. Better than what we even have here at work!!

Is the junk mail filter only in the paid version of Eudora 6? If not how do you enable it?

I don't know if its only in the paid version, which is the version I have. You enable it by clicking Tools->Options, then scrolling to the bottom of all the options and click on the Junk Mail icon. Place a check mark next to "Automatically place junk in Junk mailbox". Click ok. That should do it.
