e.g. <OPTION disabled>Frogs on toast</OPTION>

Is there any way to get this to work in IE? It seems to work in Mozilla ( but I've tried IE 5.5/6 and in both cases I am able to select the option that is supposed to be disabled...

Any help is appreciated. Miles
