Is there any feature code or other way to temporarily disable a set from being used? Furthermore is there a way to control one set from another set? Here's the scenario...
We have a phone sitting on a ledge outside the high school office for student use. The vendor who installed the system put a toggle switch in the line to turn the phone on and off. (by actually diconnecting the line via the switch) This is a pain because everytime it's turned on you have to wait for the set to initialize, also somehow I can't believe this is good for the system. Secondly, in the evenings our receptionist unplugs the main set and the CAP module and locks it in a drawer because they don't want people being able to use that phone. ( It sits out in the open)
Thanks,

What exactly do you want to disable - dialing long distance? locally? internally? If you want the set to be completely dead then your vendor made it easiest for you, and it will not harm your sytem.

you can restrict all outside dialing and issue password for COS access to those who you want to use it

I am aware of the COS but we can't be giving out cos passwords to students. That's why I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to control one phone with another. If the secretary could enter a cos password for the phone on the counter from her phone, that would work fine but I have not been able to figure out a way to do that.

You could totally restrict the phone, then hotline the phone to the receptionist who could then initiate a conference call for the student. So when the student picks up the handset, it rings the recept. She answers and the student gives her the desired phone number, she does a conference and puts it on hold. Yes, she will have to periodically check the line and disconnect it when the call is over but it will prevent unauthorized calls.

As far as the other 7324 + CAP, you can set up a restriction service that totally restricts all phones after hours.
