I was just instructed to disable the phone of a letterhead partner who was asked to retire. When I statted his TN it was already disabled. I assumed that someone had unplugged his phone. Noone else but me could've disabled it via the switch. Anyway, I removed a hotline key and also his name. When I called it to double-check the name was gone it rang. I statted the TN and now it shows IDLE. does this mean if you make a change to a phone that DSBL it then goes to IDLE status? And if in fact someone unplugged the phone (how else could it have disabled?) and now it's IDLE, what's ringing when that ext is called? thank you.

When you did a service change it reenabled the phone automatically and it was ringing because the switch didn't do another audit yet, so it was still enabled. the ringing you are hearing was for you only as the other phone was probably unplugged. I would disable it anyway after you have all of the changes made.

yes if you make a CHG to a disabled set it will renable the port. This doesn't mean the phone is plugged in. To check, in LD10/11/32 IDU the TN, (I am assuming this is an Aries/Taurus set).
Also, PRT a DNB on extn number & make sure you don't have a 2nd appearrance
