Disable wireless network detection?

Hi all,
I have several XP Pro laptops with integrated 802.11. It seems that wherever my folks travel with them, they're often notified by the machines that new wireless networks are available. Is there a way to disable this automatic detection and manually specify the SSID's of the wireless networks to which these machines should connect?
