How can I disable/uninstall speech feature from XP Pro ?

This feature is writing a lot of info to the users profile. Users do not have speakers or microphones.

Thanks

Have a look at this. I think you can disable speech but not uninstall it.

Control Panel/ Regional and Language Options/Languages/Details/Language Bar
and turn off advanced text services,

Specifies whether the advanced text services, including handwriting recognition, speech recognition, and some accessibility options, are turned on or off. Select the check box to turn off the advanced text services. Clear the check box to turn them back on.
Use this option to turn off text services temporarily when you are not using them. Text services require computer resources and can affect performance. Be sure only those languages and text services you use are listed under Installed services. Remove any services you don't use.

Here is an excerpt from another site on the removal of CFTMON XP office's speech program and a link on the bottom to M$ article explaining how to remove it.

If you have Office XP installed, the culprit may be CFTMON.EXE. This module provides the Alternate Language Bar and provides text input service support for speech recognition, handwriting recognition, keyboard, translation, and other alternative user input technologies. When you close all Office programs, this module stays active. Removing it can cause serious problems with your Office XP products, but you can effectively disable it by setting the installation state to Not Available in Office XP Setup. This isn’t as easy as it sounds though — several steps are involved. For full instructions, plus more information on the file and its function, see What Is CTFMON and What Does It Do?
