Thanks ahead for any responses.

I currently have 2 remote Merlin systems networked together through ethernet/fiber, but each have their own set of truck lines acting as stand alone systems but can reach each other's phone lines with extension dial. Is it possible to get rid of one set of trunk lines and have just one Merlin box route calls throughout the network. For instance, having the ingoing/outgoing lines for Merlin 1 as ingoing/outgoing lines available to phones on Merlin 2 since trunk lines for Merlin 2 are unavailable.

I understand we might lose some incoming call functionality at one end, but we have had continuous issues with one of the truck line providers and would just rather bypass them since the lines are down too often to be reliable.

Thank you

You can program the one to call out using the other's PRI/trunk lines. You do need to be careful for 911 purposes though. The Merlin is an older system and when site A calls out using site B's lines, it is going to show the call coming from site B. To cover yourself, you can install (1) POTS line at site A and use it for routing 911 calls. Then, program site A to send all other calls out site B.

Thanks alot for the info Telcomboy!!!. I've never dealt with these systems and just got put in charge of programming it. Wanted to make sure the system was capable of this before doing all the research. I was hoping it wasn't possible so I can just gut it and install newer technology lol

No problem. Another issue with this change is that all calls over the fiber will show as "outside". The caller id will not pass through. So, if people are used to caller id now they will be unhappy that incoming calls will not show caller id anymore.
