Hi all, I am using PSQL v9 SP1, I would like to disable the transaction logging feature but can't seem to do so. If I uncheck the transaction logging feature in data integrity, click apply, Pervasive tells me it is restarting Services. If I then exit the Control centre - reopen I find the the transaction logging is ticked again.

Anyone else had this problem? Or more importantly know how to solve it?

Cheers

I just tried it on my PSQL 9.5 (SP2) install and it worked just fine. Are you trying to do this through a Terminal Server (or Remote Desktop) session? If so, try it physically at the server. I did it both physically at the server and through VNC.

Why are you turning it off?

Thanks for the reply, I was initially trying to disable it through RDP - I have now tried through VNC and directly at the server, all with the same result.

As to why I am turning it off, I am taking it under advisement from our application developer, I believe the application handles all of the transaction logging.

Sounds like you might have a permission or registry issue in that case.
You could try changing the value in the registry directly. You'd want to stop the PSQL engine (both Transactional and Relational services) on the server then change the value at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pervasive Software\MicroKernel Server Engine\Version 9\Settings\Transaction Logging
to No.
I've always left it on and haven't had any problems.
Does the app developer say that it causes problems to have it on?

Thanks mirtheil that worked a treat!

As to why I have been advised to turn the transaction logging off, I don't know; but I think I will ask the question. I don't know to much about pervasive so I was just taking their advice at face value.

I know that the transaction logging is there for data integrity but I can't see how it helps - the logs appear to be pretty meaningless, how would you use them if there was any data corruption?
