Hello everyuno,

I have a great little task to carryout. All of our XP pro laptops are about to have new software installed on them. As part of the lockdown settings, we have to remove the Standby and Restart Buttons from the Turn Off Computer Menu. Users will only beable to Shutdown the laptop. Does anyone know the location in the registry that I need to be looking at to do this?

Cheers.

Marty

Found this that might help:

Otherwise I beleive you are going to have to edit the registry.

Found this that appears to address your question:

Open up regedit and navigate to

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\

Add the Attributes value under this key (REG_DWORD).

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters\Attributes

Set Attributes to 0x70 and reboot

Everything will be OK in the end.
If it's not OK, then it's not the end

Before you try my other suggestions take a look in your power settings

Open the Control Panel, double click on "Power Options", select the "Hibernate" tab, then UNCHECK the "Enable Hibernation" box.
