I have an issue where my NT 4.0 server is continually polling the subnet for other servers. This is apparently a default setting. I have searched Technet with no success. Does anyone have an idea how to disable SMB polling in NT 4?

Thanks in advance.

I would just like to **BUMP** this.

Anyone know?

Terry712,

Thanks for the reply. There is another user in our datacenter that has complained that our box is scanning their machines and filling up their logs. We have closed all NETBIOS (and other uneccessary ports) to the outside of the datacenter, but it is constantly scanning internally.

You are going to have to be more specific.

Is it PDC to BDC synchronization traffic?
Is it Master brower elections or browse list sharing?
What port is the traffic being seen on?
What messages are filling their logs? Are we talking the NT event logs or logs for some other tool?
