Hi,

One of my co-workers use the "flag-and-remind" system for creating reminders for her self. The problem is, that when she creates a reminder on an e-mail that has been sent to several people, all of those other people will also get the reminder.

Lets say, customer 1 sends an e-mail to coworker 1 and coworker 2. Coworker 1 flags the mail and sets a reminder, reminding her to "fix" the mail in 2 days time. Coworker 2 will then receieve a popup in 2 days time, notifying him/her that coworker 1 has created a reminder.

Is there anyway to disable that?

I hope I used the correct terms. I had to translate from Danish :)

Best regards,
Thomas

Using Rules and Alerts, you can remove the Message Flag... "Clear the Message Flag".

So, if you can do that at the server level, then all recipients will not have that issue.

Or if it's one person who is causing all the issues, you can have that person add such a rule for all mail sent from their mailbox.

Hi kvj,

I'm afraid I don't see where you're going with this. I can't find the "Clear the Message Flag" in the "sent mail" rules section.

I really don't understand who at MS thought it would be a good idea to send reminders to every single recipient on an e-mail like this :/

BR,
Thomas

The Clear the message flag is only an option for incoming messages. So if you're able to somehow push that rule to everyone's Outlook settings, then that could take care of it. No, I don't see that option on outgoing mail.

This seems more like (maybe) a user error anyway. As in, when she is setting the flags. If she sets the flag, for instance, after the message is already sent,t hen it will not automatically forward that message on to the recipients. I know I've used that flag and remind item once in the past on accident that way - actually, that was about 10 years ago, I believe.

I'd suggest you dig into the non-technical fix, and that is flagging the messages in a different way or at a different time, and then if for whatever reason, that is not possible, look at pushing a rule to everyone else that automatically deletes those flags... with a specification for emails from this person... unless you know for absolute certain that no one would ever need a reminder flag from anyone else.
