I have an bcm 400 ver 3.7 and we had a major layoffs and now the boss wants me to disable all ext so when someone ring that ext it say not in service or no available or try again something to tell the external person that ext is no longer available

He does not wanted forward I tried delete from call pilot but all that does is ring and rings is their a way to do what my boss wants?

thanks in advanced

unplug the phone. If they have DIDs remove the target line via programming.

Why not simply forward the phone to a mailbox announcement that says the person you are trying to reach is no longer available?

Just a busy or fast busy wouldn't tell me someone was gone, it would make me try again later hoping to get through!

The unplug worked it stated no such extension thank you

Sorry, but having the caller hear the response "No such extension" this creates a new problem.

What if the caller is a: customer or potential new client or an issue on site and the former employee is the only contact???

I would listen to Johnthephoneguy's idea and create a voicemail box stating that the employee is no longer available and the caller has the ability to dial 0 to contact the receptionist.
