Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the handset on an Avaya IP 9608 phone, so it cannot be used. I only want the phone's speakerphone to be setup as the default method and nothing else.

Thanks in advance :)

you could always just disconnect the handset I guess, other than that I'm not sure.

You could also just leave the speaker option on and answer the call with the "Answer" softkey instead of using the handset.

Get a conference phone.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Seriosly though, set the default audio path to "speaker" and then unplug the handset and take it away :)

Use a analog station port, set it as "Paging Speaker" type and buy a amplified (PC) speaker set with some electronic components for a few dollars.
the schematic is like this:
.22 uf 10k pot
400v ||(----------->
Phone line tip o-----)(----)||( <---o to amplified speaker
)||( >
Phone line ring o-----------)||(-----------o---o ground

The used transfomator is a 800 ohm 1:1 type, you will find one in any old analog phone with a genuine ( not electronic ) ringer just like the .22uF capacitor.
