Disable group paging on some extentions?

Is there a way to disallow loudspeaker paging on some extentions? I only want a few managers to be able to page. I'm sick of hearing that "The pizza guy is here and he's pissed because noone left a name for the order" over the phone system every afternoon around noon.

Depends on the release.

Up until R7 Legend, you had no "VOICE ANNOUNCE TO IDLE ONLY" Option, so you could either have it always OFF or always ON.

Since R7 and All Magix releases, you could change Voice Announce to IDLE only.

Another clever way (on older systems) is to have ONLY IC Voice Buttons on your phone, and only one as a "REGULAR" IC Voice. (or SA voice, what ever you want to call it)

The others would be IC Voice Originate Only.

That way, if your phone is busy, any subsequent call to your extension would go to VM.

In your case, just set VOICE ANNOUNCE to OFF, and no more pizza guy!

Yeah, but if I read the question and title correctly, you want to take some extensions out of the all call group, 799, or perhaps restrict some extensions from makeing those pages.

Unfortunatly, you can't opt out of the all call group. You could, however, renumber 799 to something else, and only give it out on a need to know basis. But that won't last long, and you'll just have to change it again.

we had the problem too and every one know dial 799 to page and renumber it to 555 it help to cut down


also what kind of phone do you have ?
do they have a display?

If they dont have a display and the mamager has a phone you renumber the page group to 555 and program a button on the phone....

Actually, based on his statement:

I figured all he wanted to do was turn it off on his phone.

Of course, that does nothing to address the real problem.

Why would anyone in a Pizza shop take a delivery order with no name - PIZZA SHOP PROBLEM

AND -

Why would anyone ever, in a business, do a loud speaker page that contained words which could be offensive to any customer who could hear them.

Ok so if I can't disallow some extentions, how do I renumber 799?

Merlin Man - you said in a previous post set Voice Announce to Off - Is this possible? - I have a customer with an R5 Legend and they have 11 phones out of 62 they do not want 799 pages going to. I didn't think there was any way to do that.

Yes, there is...

Under Central Program, touch ANY BUTTON, then hit LIST FEATURE, then MORE a few times 'till you see Voice Announce

Touch that, and then you have the choice of ON or OFF (with an r5, r7 has ON, OFF or IDLE)

Touch OFF, and ENTER, and it is done.

Let us know how that works out.

Also, as I mentioned before, there's another way to "SIMULATE" voice to IDLE only on the earlier (than r7) releases.
